Frequently Asked Questions

Frost Gully Violins covers all the maintenance your instrument might need during your rental period. This includes strings, bow re-hair, bridge replacement, and any other workmanship related issue. We strive to make your rental experience as easy as possible so you can concentrate on the important thing, making music!

Rental instruments are not for sale. However, you can put 100% of the money you spend on the rental towards a retail instrument at any time.

Our standard rental contract is for a full year (12 months). We find that it is much easier on the instruments to not switch players too often. We also find that a year is a good amount of time to dedicate to an instrument to decide if it is something you want to continue. If you have it for a year, you are more likely to get through a bad month and keep at it.
Exceptions can be made for certain situations. Please call with any further questions.

FGV will split the cost with the renter of any repair needed due to accident or negligence. If the instrument is damaged beyond repair, we will split the cost of replacing it with the renter. It is recommended that you speak to your homeowners or renters insurance provider and let them know you have an instrument in the house.

We stock sizes down to a 1/10 for violin and a 1/8 for cello and viola. If you need a smaller size, or a non-standard size, please call and ask.

We are happy to work with teachers to get the best suited instrument for each player. If your teacher has suggestions for adjustments or improvements, just let us know and we will be happy to accommodate you.
